Perfect Dark Showcase: Cairo

While this is not exactly an ideal situation to showcase some of the work performed on the recently cancelled Perfect Dark, I am supremely proud of the team I worked with and what we accomplished. I am a bit limited to what I can share here due to the cancellation, so here are some shots from our presentation at Xbox Showcase last year. The work depicted here was absolutely a team effort, with all hands on deck for putting this level together for the showcase. Everyone on our art team contributed and put in tireless work in many parts of this level, some of it dating back to our time in pre-preduction. During my time on Perfect Dark I was a part of the small in house art team that worked to solidify our pipelines and workflows. Countless hours were spent working with our tech artists to hone in our master shaders and materials; adding needed features and capabilities. We also spent a significant amount of time on vertical slices to gauge how the narrative and gameplay felt, and then refine as needed based on feedback. My personal contributions to the work depicted includes working on the building kits for the residential structures seen in the trailer. Specifically, nailing down our workflow utilizing nanite and the new tech we had at our fingertips. This involved everything from sculpting kit pieces, material creation and iteration, and constructing the blueprints to place them in our levels. During our time on the showcase level, I was more heavily focused on Carrington's hideout and the surrounding area after the squeeze through portion of the trailer.
